The first day of the rest of her life

Article Abstract:

British au pair Louise Woodward, who has been convicted in the US of the manslaughter of baby Matthew Eappen, has now returned to her home in the UK. She has so far said little to journalists, except to emphasize her innocence and to predict that the truth will eventually come out. She has also stated that negative media coverage about her in Boston, MA, turned the jury against her and influenced the outcome of her trial. In Oct 1998 she must face trial in the wrongful death suit being brought against her by the Eappen family.

Irregular justice at The Rigger

Article Abstract:

Some of the residents of Elton, England, the home village of Louise Woodward, who has been convicted of the manslaughter of a young child in the US, have been showing emotions which are not all appropriate to the case. Most ordinary Britons feel that the manslaughter verdict was correct, but those who know Woodward personally are determined to push their campaign further and see her return as a heroine. It is now time to put sentiment aside and to make a balanced judgement of the real facts of the case.
