The lost world of suburbia

Article Abstract:

It is important to instigate debate about the future of suburban areas in the UK, according to a report published by the Civic Trust. Urban renewal initiatives have focused on inner city areas, but there is now a need to switch the focus to suburbs if these areas are not to become a problem in the future. Suburbs seem to be safe, predictable places, but they lack vibrancy and authenticity. It is vital to ensure that suburbs do not stop being places where people can socialize and shop.
