The lying game

Article Abstract:

There are number of ethical problem associated with docusoaps, or television documentaries about lighthearted subjects. Some observers believe that docusoaps are a form of entertainment and that there is therefore no real need to be entirely sure that what is presented is the truth. These observers believe that it is acceptable for certain events to be re-enacted. In contrast, others feel that re-enacting scenes brings the danger of misleading viewers, who should be able to believe that what they see is real.

Birt revolution begins to be dismantled at BBC

Article Abstract:

BBC News is to shift away from the bi-media policy favoured by John Birt. Under this policy, all staff had to work for both radio and television. Staff felt that this approach had serious limitations and was never really effective. However, the overall improved flexibility of staff is seen as a benefit, and will be retained. Changes in staffing at the top of BBC News are likely to lead to the appointment of a separate Head of Television News and Head of Radio News.
