The odds on losing your job

Article Abstract:

There are now a growing number of opportunities for office workers in the UK to bet during their working day. They can place bets by telephone, for example, and are now also able to gamble over the Internet. A particular problem is the growing popularity of spread betting, which originated among financial traders in the City of London. However, it is important to be slightly cautious, ensuring that you think through all the implications carefully before making a dramatic change in direction.

Cherie is no prima donna

Article Abstract:

Inviting Cherie Blair, wife of UK Labour party leader Tony Blair, to act as guest editor for the Oct 1996 issue of women's magazine Prima was not designed simply to attract publicity, according to Lindsay Nicholson, the magazine's permanent editor. She had full involvement in putting the issue together, including choosing dressmaking patterns and recipes and developing features and ideas for regular sections. She reads the magazine regularly, and is very interested in homemaking and health issues.
