Hip hop singer Lauryn Hill has gained a reputation for expressing strong views. Her album 'The Miseducation' has been extremely popular, but some observers have accused her of preaching. She believes that her approach is justified as she seeks to move hip hop back to the soul music to which she was exposed at an early age. Her music contains elements of soul, jazz and gospel, and is particularly strongly influenced by Bob Marley.
