The short life and gangland death of a child of the drug culture

Article Abstract:

Paul Seddon has been jailed for life for the murder of five-year-old Dillon Hull. Seddon, a contract killer, had been assigned to murder the child's stepfather, John Bates, a small-time heroin dealer who had come into conflict with a local drugs gang. Bates was walking with his stepson when Seddon made the murder attempt, which led to the boy being killed instantly and Bates being wounded. Two other members of the gang who planned to murder Bates, David Hargreaves and Craig Hollinrake, received sentences of 18 and 16 years respectively for conspiracy to murder.

The Lawrence gang: the questions these men need to answer today

Article Abstract:

A public inquiry into the murder of black teenager Stephen Lawrence in 1993 will ask searching questions of five young men suspected of committing the crime. All five have at various times been charged with the murder, but charges against them were subsequently dropped. The evidence they give to the public inquiry cannot be used against them in a criminal prosecution. Areas of inquiry will include possible links between the murder squad and the father of David Norris, one of the accused.

Father attacks detectives in Lawrence case

Article Abstract:

Neville Lawrence, whose son Stephen was murdered in an unprovoked racist attack in 1993, has expressed great frustration at the fact that his son's killers have still not be brought to justice. He has been very critical of detectives who investigated the murder, stating that they made mistakes which have prevented those responsible for the crime being convicted. Five white young men were prosecuted for the murder, but never convicted.
