Fatal attraction of the doctor and the drifter

Article Abstract:

Tony Diedrick has been convicted of the murder of Joan Francisco, a doctor at the Royal London Hospital, on Dec 26, 1994. He was a former boyfriend, and had been making threats against her since their relationship broke up. The police suspected him of committing the murder, but felt that they did not have sufficient evidence to charge him. Her family took a civil action against him, and developments in DNA testing technology made it possible to produce clear evidence of his involvement.

Home Office suppressed evidence for 46 years

Article Abstract:

The UK Home Office deliberately suppressed evidence that the conviction of 19-year-old Derek Bentley, who was epileptic and mentally retarded, for the murder of police constable in London, England, in Nov 1952 was unsafe. Bentley was caught, tried, convicted and hanged within three months. His family, who have campaigned tirelessly for his name to be cleared, believe that the speed of his conviction was a response to public concern about rising juvenile crime.

Innocent. But this murder tale is far from over

Article Abstract:

Linda Watson and her daughter Amanda London-Williams are believed to be taking legal advice on whether to sue the police for malicious prosecution or wrongful arrest after having been found not guilty of the murder of Richard Watson. Some detectives have expressed anger that the Crown Prosecution Service decided to drop the case against the two women, while the defence state that the prosecution case was based only on circumstantial evidence.
