The trouble with Al Gore

Article Abstract:

Vice-president Al Gore faces problems as a presidential candidate. He is seeking to improve his support among women, and despite being a good father and husband, he is not seen as appealing to women. Gore's popularity appears to be falling, though it is unclear why this should be so. He is seen as diffident and lacking a common touch. Vice-presidents are often affected by being in the shadow of presidents, and Gore's position could improve. He cannot be dismissed as a serious contender, but neither can he be endorsed so early in the campaign.
