The trouble with women who do too much

Article Abstract:

Women have been making arduous journeys alone to remote parts of the world since the 18th century. This is no longer seen as scandalous, but these women are still having to face criticism from men. They are usually motivated to make their journey by a need to search for their true self, and need to be much more determined than their male counterparts to succeed, as they face many more obstacles. They are often criticised for leaving their families, for example, something which would not happen to a man making a similar journey.

Twenty years on, still married to counselling

Article Abstract:

Zelda West-Meads, press officer of Relate, the marriage guidance charity, has 20 years' experience of counselling. At 17 she taught English in Hong Kong, then learnt French in Paris and became a model in London. Relate finds that women's expectations of marriage have changed and men find it difficult to adapt. Some counselling helps people through divorce and eases damage to the children. Infedility is seen as betrayal but does not usually cause a marriage to break down.
