High voltage

Article Abstract:

The Villa Volta ride at the Efteling theme park in The Netherlands has been awarded the most outstanding theme park attraction of 1997 by the Themed Entertainment Association (THEA). The ride is based on the local legend of Hugo van den Loonsche who had a curse placed on his house. The ride consists of a mansion which houses a revolving room. The room is built around a moving swing and revolves on a rotating drum. Visitors become totally disorientated. Speed and length of ride duration dictate the effects felt by the 80 people on each ride.

The user-friendly way to win power

Article Abstract:

The UK Citizen's Charter was established to grant people more power over the state. Its existence is due to the decline of social order between the government and the people as political parties are no longer able to represent the people comprehensively. Charters provide: improved, inexpensive services; a simple form of public redress and user-status. The Citizen's Charter is the government's attempt to try and decrease political activists by bridging the gulf between the main political parties.
