The way to save the salmon

Article Abstract:

Some observers in the UK have been raising concerns about the health and environmental impact of salmon farming for many years. However, no research has been undertaken in this area, and the government has no plans to commission any. Escaped farm salmon present a significant threat to wild salmon, either infecting them with diseases or eating wild salmon at birth. It was hoped that salmon farming would have a very beneficial impact on Scotland's economy, but this is not proving the case, especially as salmon is no longer seen as a luxury item. The only way to save the salmon farming industry is to raise salmon on land in tanks and feed them organically.
