They like Blair's style - but not his vision

Article Abstract:

The Labour party has seen its membership rise steadily over recent years, now reaching 350,000. Many of the new members are 'New Pragmatists,' who have joined because they feel that the party can defeat the Conservatives, rather than because they strongly agree with the party's policies. The only thing they really expect of party leader Tony Blair is that he defeats the Conservatives, and this may make it easier for him when he becomes prime minister. The new members are likely to continue to support him even when he faces the inevitable difficulties of being in power.

Catholic with a small 'c.' (United Kingdom Prime Minister Tony Blair's religious beliefs)

Article Abstract:

Some observers have claimed that UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, who is nominally an Anglican but often attends Roman Catholic Mass, is considering converting to Catholicism. In fact, this would be most unlikely, at least until he is no longer in the political limelight. Blair regards himself as an ecumenical Christian, and is very opposed to bitter debates between Protestants and Catholics. The main influences on his religious beliefs have been Scottish thinker John Macmurray and anti-establishment Australian cleric Peter Thomson.
