The terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon on Sep 11, 2001, and the aircraft crash in New York, NY, on Nov 12, 2001, will have very serious long-term repercussions for airlines. Many small businesses that depend on travel and tourism will collapse, and this could in turn endanger the recovery that is widely anticipated in the world economy in the second half of 2002.
