Time to forget the day job

Article Abstract:

Actress Olivia Williams had seriously considered giving up acting shortly before she gained a part co-starring in Kevin Costner's film 'The Postman.' She only went for the audition because she was desperate for work, and fully expected to be rejected for the part. She was not the first choice for the role, but believes that actors and actresses should accept that taking a part somebody else turns down is not necessarily a negative thing. She found it very difficult when 'The Postman' was criticized.

Gere up for a serious China smashing session

Article Abstract:

Actor Richard Gere is very unwilling to talk about his private life, pointing out that he did not become an actor in order to be a media celebrity. However, he is also aware that he will inevitably be thoroughly investigated by journalists. In his latest role, he plays an American businessman framed for murder in Beijing, China, in the political thriller 'Red Corner.' He welcomed this role, as it gave him the opportunity to be critical of China.
