To Shirley, with love

Article Abstract:

Singer-songwriter David McAlmont is very proud of his first solo album, 'A Little Communication.' He always feels very confident on stage, but finds it difficult to become fully involved in studio work. He began singing at his Pentecostal church in the West Indies at the age of 13, but feels that the ability to express himself vocally really came from listening to singers such as Shirley Bassey and Dusty Springfield. He believes that a lot of what he has expressed so far in his career has been related to a hatred of men that stems from his father leaving home when he was young.

Coward wrote a show for her, she's played Sondheim and Albee and Tennessee Williams. Woody Allen gave her a cameo in his latest film ... tomorrow she sings in London

Article Abstract:

There is a significant difference between playing to an audience and playing with an audience, according to singer Elaine Strich. She greatly admires performers who are able to belong entirely to the audience, such as Barbara Cook. She seems to have considerable self-assurance, which usually shows itself through humour. However, she has always known fear. She began acting in order to get out of herself, and this is also the reason why she turned to alcohol. However, she has always had great self-control, and has only missed one performance in a career spanning 50 years.

Sisters at diva pitch

Article Abstract:

Solo work is not really very appealing, according to cabaret singer Liz Callaway. She prefers to perform duets, sometimes with her sister Ann Hampton Callaway. Her sister admits that cabaret singing is quite unusual in modern times. It is a very revealing type of performance, and the singer cannot lie. Her vocal style has jazz inflections, while Liz Callaway's sound is more fresh and hopeful. The sisters are shortly to appear together in 'Sibling Revelry.'
