Whose side are you on?

Article Abstract:

It is widely assumed that secretaries know a great deal about what is going on within a company, and they can therefore often be questioned by other employees seeking information about possible developments such as redundancies. Secretaries and personal assistants can be particularly vulnerable to such pressure in companies where communication systems are poor. It is important for secretaries to be discreet at all times, and they should also strive to show that they are not on anyone's side.

Storms in a coffee cup

Article Abstract:

Office politics has become a very significant issue in the strained working environment of the 1990s. Many employees feel insecure, and one of the ways they react is to vent their frustrations on colleagues and subordinates. Office politics used to focus on administrative issues, but it has now become much more personal. Employees tend to use various methods to mark out their territory as they seek to create an established identity in an environment of apparent anonymity.
