To travel healthily

Article Abstract:

Travellers can do much to enable them to remain healthy. There are books on travel medicine, which should be read especially by people travelling to the tropics. Medical Advisory Services for Travellers Abroad provides a premium help line and a written list of risks and precautions for travellers. General practitioners and travel medicine specialists offer immunisations which sometimes need to be carried out well before departure. Travellers should be careful what they eat, as food poisoning is the worst health problem for them. Other risks include sunburn and sexually transmitted diseases.

Do we need package holidays?

Article Abstract:

Package holidays for UK tourists continue in popularity and are expected to remain popular in future. In summer 1996 the maximum number of package holidays expected to be sold is 9 million, prices have become stable, and profits are envisaged. Recent profits have been made from cashflow and Scandinavian subsidiaries which, like other European countries, charge more than UK tour operators. Expansion in future is expected to be in adventure holidays and exotic locations.

No sex, no drugs - just rock

Article Abstract:

There were a particularly large number of rock music festivals held in the UK during the summer of 1971. Venues included Crystal Palace, where performers included Pink Floyd, Bognor College, where Van Der Graaf Generator played, and Weeley, near Clacton, where the bands included T Red, Status Quo and Rod Stewart. These festivals attracted large numbers of young people, and there was generally a very relaxed atmosphere.
