Non-foods in grocery multiples

Article Abstract:

UK supermarkets now have strong sales of non-food items, especially pre-recorded audio and video products, books and magazines, clothing, non-prescription medicines, flowers and houseplants and cookware. This trend is predicted to continue, as the age group which is most likely to purchase non-food items from supermarkets, those aged 35-54, is forecast to expand. Non-food sales through supermarkets are also being boosted by the rise in car ownership and the growing number of women who work.
