Trinidad nine lose hanging appeal

Article Abstract:

Nine men found guilty in 1996 of the murder of a family of four in Williamsville, Trinidad, will now be hanged following the decision by the Privy Council in the UK to dismiss their pleas for mercy. They will be the first Trinidadians to be executed since 1994. Lawyers in both the Caribbean and London, England, have fought for three years to save the men's lives. There have been calls for hanging to be replaced with a more humane form of execution.
