Trisha leads opera a merry dance

Article Abstract:

Producing Claudio Monteverdi's opera 'Orfeo' was an extremely enjoyable experience, according to choreographer Trisha Brown. She sees herself as an abstract choreographer, an approach that gives her a great deal of freedom. She first came into contact with opera when she collaborated on a production of 'Carmen' in 1986, and has had a strong desire to direct an opera since then. Indeed, much of her recent dance work can be regarded as a preparation for directing an opera.
