True confessions of a social outcast

Article Abstract:

The Millennium Dome project has attracted a great deal of criticism from ordinary Britons, with many people coming to regard it as a symbol of what they dislike about the government. However, it is possible to argue that there are positive aspects to this project. It will not cost an excessive amount of money, and may even make a profit. It has not taken money away from more important areas, such as education, and has the potential to be the focal point of the UK's celebrations to mark the advent of the 21st century.

The bickering on display about the Dome is what's most revealing

Article Abstract:

The UK government's plans for the Millennium Dome are not misguided in themselves, as it is not necessary to feel that investment must only ever be made in areas of clear social need. However, the conflict over what the Millennium Dome will actually contain has cast a shadow over the project. The main difficulty is that the project is being managed by a small number of people at the very top, and there is little indication that attention is being paid to what ordinary people really want.

Welcome to the Dome, have a complimentary Ketchip

Article Abstract:

The UK government has called for suggestions for cultural icons to be installed in the Millennium Dome in Greenwich, London, England. One suggestion may be to duplicate the Dome, thus creating a giant model of the breasts of Sun newspaper Page Three Girl Melinda Messenger, who is one of the UK's leading icons. The most appropriate food would be chips containing tomato ketchup. Other icons could include the Teletubbies and England football team manager Glenn Hoddle.
