Turkish voters face a leap into unknown

Article Abstract:

Turkish voters face a choice between more than 6,000 candidates from 12 political parties in the country's forthcoming general elections. They offer a wide range of solutions, and the result is still very uncertain. There is a particularly strong ideological conflict between the pro-Islamic Welfare Party, which is seen as being in a very strong position, and the other parties, which wish to see Turkey remain a republic.
