US: EXPERTS WARN ABOUT DANGERS OF ONLINE AFFAIRS

Article Abstract:

Psychologists are warning that the preoccupation with online sex is adversely affecting real sexual relationships. A survey of 17,000 Internet users, conducted by the US-based Centre for Internet Studies and Psychological Health Associates, reveals that the Internet is considered the best way for obtaining sexual stimulation and gratification, and that people were preferring to indulge in fantasies through their computers rather than through normal sexual relationships. Around 57% of users admitted to flirting on the Internet, and 42% admitting to online affairs.

US: STUDY INTO IMPACT OF NET USE ON LIFESTYLES

Article Abstract:

The Internet can have a harmful impact on social life even by those devoting just five to ten hours per week to surfing, according to the Stanford Institute for the Quantitative Study of Society in America. The study, which covered 4,114 adults from almost 3,000 households, revealed a 25% decline in social activity among those spending this amount of time on the Internet. Such people were not as likely to converse with or visit their families and were increasingly isolating themselves, according to research.
