'We can't be like the last lot' - or can we?

Article Abstract:

The UK government has been negatively affected by sexual and financial scandals in 1998, damaging its efforts to set itself apart from the political corruption with which the previous Conservative administration was associated. Indeed, the government is now vulnerable to allegations of hypocrisy. In the most recent case, leading to the resignation of Trade and Industry Secretary Peter Mandelson, Prime Minister Tony Blair's personal judgement has come into question.
