At least 26 British tourists on a luxury tour of South Africa organized by Thomas Cook have been killed in a coach crash on Long Tom Pass, close to the town of Lydenburg. They were travelling from the Kruger National Park, where they had visited the Sabi Sabi game reserve. It is not known what happened to the Springbok Atlas coach as it descended the Long Tom Pass, but there are indications that its brakes may have failed. This incident could have a negative impact on tourism in the region.
