Nature, nurture and a pinch of salt

Article Abstract:

Genes are clearly important, but it must be remembered that upbringing, experience, culture and education are also vital factors in determining how a person develops. It is wrong to assume that genes are merely blueprints for an individual person. Genes make proteins, and do not form the basis for behaviour patterns or physical attributes. Each characteristic of each person is determined by many different genes, each of which plays a role in the variation between people.
