Welcome to television country

Article Abstract:

Television coverage of a specific area of the UK, such as Ullswater in the Lake District in the BBC drama series 'The Lakes' and Bristol, England, in 'Casualty,' can benefit that area in the form of additional visitors. However, it also has the potential to push down house prices if the area concerned is shown in a negative light or if the pressure of visitor numbers leads to problems such as traffic congestion. It has become quite common for people to buy a second home in an area made famous by a television series, such as Padstow, England, which features in the BBC's 'Seafood Odyssey.'
