What can I do now, Mummy?

Article Abstract:

Many parents in the UK feel that they cannot allow their children to play outside on the street unsupervised. This means that they have to spend a great deal of time thinking of activities to keep their children amused, especially during the summer holidays. Some experts believe that parents should not feel responsible for providing entertainment, as this often makes them feel resentful and very bored. Children should be encouraged to take more responsibility for entertaining themselves, and should be allowed to develop some personal space by playing outside.

When does a naughty child need a smack?

Article Abstract:

Views about smacking can vary greatly between parents. Some feel that physical punishment is very necessary, and this can lead to their children being rather timid and lacking in self-esteem. On the other extreme, some parents believe that smacking can be counter-productive, as it simply makes the child frightened and unable to understand reasonable explanations. It is vital to set clear limits for children, whether parents decide for or against smacking.

Where even the smallest hope can stay alive

Article Abstract:

Zoe's Place, the first hospice for babies in the UK, offers free palliative care to terminally ill babies and respite care for the parents of severely disabled babies. It is part of the Life organisation, which opposes euthanasia and abortion, and aims to give extremely damaged and ill children a much better quality of life than they could otherwise receive.
