What's love got to do with it Lisa?

Article Abstract:

Musician Lisa Loeb feels that she is often seen as a vulnerable person whose image is being manipulated. In fact, she is very much in control of her songwriting and her performing. She is strong committed to her music, and shows considerable talent in the construction of her lyrical narratives. She regards men and women simply as people, and does not feel happy with portraying women as behaving in a particular way and men in a different way. However, she is also keen to give women a voice.

Singin' on the range

Article Abstract:

Writing songs for Elton John has been very satisfying, according to Bernie Taupin. He has become very wealthy, and has been able to purchase a ranch in California. He does not feel that he was ever frustrated by not actually performing his songs. However, he formed a band, the Farm Dogs, which has now released its second album, entitled 'Immigrant Sons.' He believes that the band's music is very viable, even though its members are middle-aged.

The voice of America

Article Abstract:

The music of rock lyricist Van Dyke Parks is unique, bringing together elements including steel bands and strong piano tones, together with very unusual lyrics. He has not always been very popular, but has persevered with his eccentric approach. He has been involved in many different projects, the latest being the album 'Orange Crate Art,' written with Brian Wilson.
