How bosses and workers pranged GM

Article Abstract:

The 54-day stoppage at General Motors has created additional problems for a company already apparently in decline. The conflict between General Motors and the United Auto Workers union has damaged both sides, and has highlighted that they are both committed to models and production methods that are no longer appropriate. Driving forward to the Big Six

Article Abstract:

It is widely believed in the car industry that consolidation is inevitable. However, it is proving very difficult to predict exactly what form merger deals will take. All leading manufacturers have been the subject of widespread speculation, but the deals concluded until recently were generally on the periphery of the industry. This changed with the merger of Daimler and Chrysler, a very complementary deal which will still bring significant cost savings. There are other potential deals of a similar scale which would have the same complementary fit.
