When Carrie met planet Earth

Article Abstract:

Carrie Fisher, who first came to prominence as Princess Leia in the Star Wars trilogy, is well known as a reformed drug addict. She was on drugs at the time Star Wars was filmed and gradually became more and more involved with them until she was eventually detoxified. She had movie star parents Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher, so it was inevitable she would go into show business. She has also made a name as a novelist and screenwriter. In her latest films she has tended to take the part of a friend as in Hannah And Her Sisters, Sibling Rivalry and When Harry Met Sally.

Ring, ring. Will you let Poet Pete in?

Article Abstract:

Peter Cadle has been selling books of his poetry door-to-door since the late 1970s, and has generally received positive reactions. People tend to be quite polite to him, and feel that they have to apologise if they do not buy a book from him. He never makes very much money, but is prepared to continue making poetry available to ordinary people. He also sings folk songs and recites his poetry in pubs and similar venues.

A dare, a buzz, a ride

Article Abstract:

The UK has seen seven deaths as a result of train surfing, which is becoming an increasingly popular pastime for young people. They travel between carriages, on top of the train or cling on to the sides, usually to impress their friends and because they seek the thrill of the danger involved. Accidents are common, with a number of people having lost limbs.
