The pink city's future isn't rosy

Article Abstract:

The ancient city of Petra, carved out of multi-coloured rock in a breathtaking landscape, has become a busy tourist attraction, especially since the reopening of the border between Jordan and Israel. The large numbers of tourists will not cause damaged to the rocks themselves, but the authorities still want to 'repair' the city in order to make it even more entertaining for tourists. A large hotel is already being built on the edge of the city, and this and other developments threaten the entire landscape.

When older age looks like a rosy future

Article Abstract:

There are a number of ways in which those who are retired can maximize their assets and their income. Moving shareholdings into self-select personal equity plans by selling shares to reinvest immediately, a practice known as 'bed and pepping,' is an effective way of converting taxable into tax-free investments. Care should be taken to ensure that capital assets are not dominated by shares in a single company. Inheritance tax liabilities can be reduced by placing investment bonds in trust for beneficiaries.

Rosy Gibb

Article Abstract:

Rosy Gibb developed a career as a clown relatively late in life. At the age of almost 40, she devoted a great deal of time and effort to teaching herself juggling, mime, magic, fire-eating and tightrope-walking. She looked deep into her own psyche to discover the essence of real clowning, and developed a great talent for appealing to audiences of all sizes and types of people. She made friends very easily, and was greatly admired for her openness and availability.
