None of us like bombing but there really is no alternative

Article Abstract:

It is clear that bombing Afghanistan will not put an end to terrorist activity. However, it is equally clear that military action must be taken. This will be a long-term campaign and will also include diplomatic and humanitarian initiatives.

Don't despair at this pork barrel Euro-politics

Article Abstract:

Conflict between European leaders about the location for the European Food Safety Agency gives a worrying picture of the state of European unity. However, it should not be assumed that the European Union is a failure, as people from many countries now have the opportunity to express their views about its leaders.

Who are these asylum-seeking scum? They're people like my grandparents

Article Abstract:

Many people believe that too many asylum-seekers are entering the UK and that steps should be taken to reduce their numbers. However, it is also possible to argue that almost no action should be taken on this issue, as long as the local councils most affected by the arrival of asylum-seekers receive additional funds. The UK receives fewer asylum-seekers per capita than a number of other European countries, and there are no indications that asylum-seekers are placing an unbearable burden on UK society.
