UK basks in burst of summer sunshine

Article Abstract:

There are a number of indications that the lull in economic activity seen in the UK in winter 1998 to 1999 has come to an end. The UK will enjoy economic growth for the rest of 1999, as will Europe, the US and the emerging countries of East Asia, apart possibly from Indonesia. This trend can be attributed to the strength of the US economy, which has a positive impact on the rest of the world. Most observers expect global economic growth to continue in 2000.
