Why not have a heart-to-heart with a pig?

Article Abstract:

The UK government has established the ground rules for the first organ transplants from animals to humans. Many people find the idea of a human body containing animal organs very distasteful, but is in fact hard to raise ethical objections to using animal organs when most people are quite willing to eat animals. Some observers believe that animal organs should be used because there is a serious shortage of human organs for patients requiring a transplant. However, others point out that using animal organs could introduce dangerous new disease to humans.

Fifty-year trip for drug that epitomised the Sixties

Article Abstract:

Swiss chemist Dr Albert Hofmann, 87, discovered the acid trip from LSD (lysergic acid diethylamide) in 1943 by accident. He believes it could be used in clinical medicine and should have the same status as heroin and morphine. Psychiatrists could use it to reach the consciousness of patients who do not respond to anything else. Few experiments have been undertaken since LSD was made illegal.
