Why testing is no enemy of children's creativity

Article Abstract:

The UK government's decision to place strong emphasis on standards of literacy and numeracy among primary school pupils will not have a negative impact on creativity. Indeed, creativity can only be encouraged by boosting standards of literacy and numeracy. It is true that young children need time to play, but there is no reason why they should not learn to read and, as they grow older, be given homework. It is important to recognize that significant progress is now being made towards improving teaching standards in primary schools.

Learn all about a school before you finally decide

Article Abstract:

Parents considering which secondary school to send their child to should look carefully at the school brochure. Attention should be given to issues including whether performance in the subjects all children take, including English and science, is consistently good and the school's policy on homework. When visiting a potential secondary school, parents should consider how cooperative the children are and whether concentration levels are generally good.
