A few questions for Geoffrey Robinson, Treasury minister

Article Abstract:

It is worth asking a number of questions about the extremely large offshore trust held by UK Treasury minister Geoffrey Robinson in Guernsey. It seems strange that the money was put into the trust by a Belgian woman living in Switzerland, a strategy which was probably designed to avoid tax liabilities in the UK. Robinson has stated that he never transferred capital or other assets into the trust, but he also admits that the right to purchase 9 million pounds sterling of shares in UK concern TransTec, which he controls, has passed to the offshore trust.

How to handle the information surplus

Article Abstract:

There are a number of clear signs that modern society in the UK is beginning to suffer from information overload. Some companies are now having to classify information management as a separate task, for example, while the price of publications and rates for advertising in these publications are falling. It is tempting to try to deal with information overload by producing summaries, but this approach can produce misleading material. It is important to ensure that each item of news is handled in such a way that a wider picture can emerge.

The bishops finally see reason over homosexuality

Article Abstract:

Anglican bishops meeting at the Lambeth Conference in Canterbury, England, have expressed very varied views about homosexuality. These are reflected in the carefully-worded statement on homosexuality issued by the conference. This document has the virtue of assuring homosexuals that they are loved by God. In this way, the Anglican Communion seems to be acknowledging that it has unknowingly ordained many homosexual priests to the ministry.
