Will farmers build temples? Pigs might fly

Article Abstract:

Agricultural land in and around Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty contains many ugly barns and buildings, which could be better designed. Prime Minister John Major suggested at the Jan 1992 Oxford Farming Conference that planning permission should be sought for new farm buildings. Planning authorities could require traditional and local materials for prominent buildings or siting in less conspicuous places. Agro-industrial sheds could be camouflaged with hazel screens or blackberry bushes.

Bring back that longing feeling

Article Abstract:

Some people equate desire very closely with lust, while others feel that this devalues desire, giving it carnal overtones which are not necessarily present. Desire is actually much broader in scope than lust, and can apply to items which cannot possibly be obtained. However, both emotions are very intense, and are an instant physiological response to a particular stimulus. Desire is by its very nature unstable, and often leads to frustration.

Farmers protest at plan to bring beavers back to Britain after 400 years

Article Abstract:

Scottish Natural Heritage is to seek permission to import a colony of beavers from Norway. The beavers could arrive in the UK in autumn 2002 and would then spend six months in quarantine before being released into the wild. The plan has attracted opposition from landowners, residents and farmers in the Scottish Highlands.
