Will the boys who can't read still end up as the men on top?

Article Abstract:

Men continue to dominate over women in UK society, even though boys generally perform less well at school than girls. There are many environments where men tend to stick together and exclude women, not least in the House of Commons itself. However, considerable social change is being brought about by developments such as the use of information technology and the decline in manufacturing employment, and it may be that in the future men will not be able to take for granted that they will be socially superior to women.

'We stood alone against the enemy.' (fair play in United Kingdom)(What Does It Mean To Be British?, part 6)(Weekend Review)

Article Abstract:

The traditional British notion of fair play still exists for young people in modern society, even though it has taken on new forms. It is still widely accepted that everybody should have the opportunity to make the most of their life, and a number of institutions, including charities and the National Health Service, exist to serve this idea. Fair play remains significant while other traditional British notions, such as the UK as a key industrial power, have vanished.

Drawing false conclusions

Article Abstract:

It is clear that an evolution is taking place in gender roles in the UK. More women are working, while more men are caring for children. This should be regarded as a natural development, and it should not be assumed that women are becoming men or men are becoming women. Against this background, research indicating differences between the sexes in areas such as health and education should not be interpreted as the reflection of moral trends.
