Winning a church school place would be heavenly

Article Abstract:

A mother describes her efforts to secure a place for her daughter in a Church of England secondary school in Westminster, London, England. Experiences of attending church in order to persuade the vicar to sign a form confirming that the family were regular church-goers are described, and resulting involvement with church activities is detailed. The decline in standards at the school following the death of the headmistress and the unsuitable behaviour of the daughter are also discussed.
