World loses a fearful stability

Article Abstract:

The war going on in Croatia, Bosnia and sections of the former Soviet Union would not be doing so if the Cold War were still going on. Before the collapse of communism in eastern Europe, when the Berlin Wall was still in place, the US would pronounce support for one side in any conflict and Soviet Union for the other and most times these conflicts would soon peter out. Now the two countries are working together to try to stop such fighting, as in Bosnia, but refrain from becoming actively involved.
