You gotta roll with it

Article Abstract:

Henry Selick is the 43-year-old director of the film adaptation of 'James and the Giant Peach', by Roald Dahl. The final script was written by Karey Kirkpatrick, after scripts by Dennis Potter, Jonathan Roberts and Bruce Joel Rubin were rejected. Felicity Dahl, Roald's widow, was determined that the script should remain true to her husband's work, and retained the right to approve the script. Selick says that Felicity was displeased by some changes, but he appears to have handled the situation well.

Stills from a life in moving pictures

Article Abstract:

German filmmaker Wim Wenders believes that his awareness of light, which is a vital element for creating atmosphere in his films, stems from taking photographs at an early age. He also makes extensive use of music to create atmosphere in his films. He is keen to be taken seriously as a photographer, and is currently staging an exhibition of his work at the Printemps de Cahors Photography Festival in Cahors, France. His photographs are often reminiscent of the images in his films.

How does our play please you?

Article Abstract:

The new Shakespeare's Globe theatre in London, England, is certainly an impressive building, very closely resembling the playwright's original Globe theatre. However, staging his plays in this authentic setting does not necessarily increase the audience's understanding of them. The first productions at the theatre have attracted large audiences, but have failed to be particularly impressive, especially as they did not seem to blend well with the surroundings.
