A loan at last: Industry is once again urging Government to lower the cost of borrowing

Article Abstract:

A report by the Machine Tool Technologies Association (MTTA) shows that UK investment performance is poorer than key rival economies, and cites unique constraints on the SME community. The MTTA recommends an increase in capital allowances and a combination of loan support and guarantee schemes, and a DTI working party on competitiveness and investment has already suggested similar schemes to the President of the Board of Trade.
