A long haul for Chinese science

Chinese science has long lagged behind its Western counterpart because of inadequate funds and bureaucracy. However, the government has begun to reshape science to increase its contribution to the business sector. Chinese scientists admit that they must double their efforts to catch up with the West.

Attack on ozone science

Several organizations are trying to downplay and deny the environmental threats caused by the continuing degradation of the ozone layer. Known as the ozone backlash, the movement borrows a measure of credibility and respectability from the pronouncements of several contrarian scientists.
