A medical crusader for editorial freedom: fired journal editor George D. Lundberg makes it a religion to serve the interests of patients

Article Abstract:

Lundberg's unceremonious dismissal as editor of the 'Journal of the American Medical Association' has ignited debates about editorial freedom. American Medical Assn CEO E. Ratcliffe Anderson Jr said that his decision to fire Lundberg stemmed from the latter's accelerated publication of a study showing that majority of a sample of college students did not consider oral-genital contact as a sexual encounter. The article was published amid the political controversy surrounding Pres Bill Clinton's impeachment trial.
