A speeding ticket for NIH's controversial cancer star

Article Abstract:

Rosenberg, one of the most prominent and controversial cancer researchers, had a portion of his National Institutes of Health funding deleted from an upcoming contract. Many of his peers feel that he is moving too quickly in injecting gene-modified immune cells into cancer patients.

NSF's new random inspections draw fire

The National Science Foundation has adopted a policy of sending investigators from their inspector general's office to inspect universities and other institutions that receive funding from NSF. A NSF inspection of the University of Virginia's biology dept is described.

Pasteur notebooks reveal deception

Article Abstract:

Louis Pasteur's laboratory notebooks reveal that he violated medical and ethical standards at least three times. The violations involved claiming credit for a competitor's vaccine and using rabies vaccines on humans before conducting animal trials.
