Leisure centers in the Metropolitan Borough of Kirklees, England, are giving priority to energy management to underline their commitment to environmental issues. The pools and sports centers are managed by an operations manager for leisure facilities whose policy is to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, provide energy-efficient heating, encourage less polluting means of transport and maintain high levels of energy conservation. Kirklees' Energy Management Unit is responsible for identifying energy costs and benefits and assesses the performance of buildings.

A woman's war on worms
Article Abstract:
Preventing parasitic worm infestation in the indigenous populations of Cameroon has required a small measure of cultural adaptation. Since the worms invade their human hosts through drinking water or skin penetration, new behaviors have been introduced, such as washing the feet, wearing shoes and drawing water from underground springs rather than surface ponds.
