Should you go to a pro?

Article Abstract:

Professional designers can help remedy gardeners' tendency to put plants in the first open space and bring coherence to an outdoor plan, but choosing the right one and communicating well are critical. Different plans call for different professionals, including landscape architects, designers, and contractors. Sources for good local ones are suggested, as are important questions to ask early. What designers want to see and should ask in return is also discussed.
