Allergy and the immune system

Article Abstract:

Allergies develop within the immune system when foreign substances cause the body to produce IgE antibodies which, when reacting with allergens, produce harmful chemicals in the body. These antibodies can stay in the body for as long as one year. Allergy types and treatments are discussed.

The immune system as a therapeutic agent

Article Abstract:

Isolation of cells and proteins of the immune system to treat and prevent diseases involves exposure of lymphocytes to pathogens to enable the body to build up antibodies. Research on transplantation of antibodies, AIDS vaccines and cancer treatment is discussed.
