Atoms in flux

Article Abstract:

New fail-safe technologies will ease public mistrust and apprehensions across society on the misuse of atomic power. The 1979 Three Mile Island accident in U.S. and the 1986 Chernobyl incident in Soviet Union have aggravated the inherent fear and skepticism regarding the growth and application of nuclear power for peaceful purposes. The downward curve of nuclear power seems to be endless. Neither the fact that 17% of world's electricity is produced by the nuclear plants nor the warning on the global front has halted this slope.

French nuclear power charges into future

Article Abstract:

France is likely to continue to generate a major portion of its required power through nuclear plants. Despite the reverses incurred due to a poor projection of the future availability of nuclear level, France's nuclear power system is successful in its functioning. Its choice of reactor type has contributed to its success as a nuclear power but is also its weakness. Due to a high efficiency level, power cost in France is the lowest in Europe and the nuclear industry meets 50% of the country's needs.

World's energy appetite may crave nuclear power

Article Abstract:

Nuclear power is the potential long term option to meet the increasing demands for energy across the world. Even when the worst accident is taken into account, commercial nuclear power is developed with modest effects on the health and safety of humans as well as the environment. The setting up of international safety standards, establishment of fuel-cycle services, and elimination of old plants that do not meet the safety standards will ensure the creation of a better world.
